Thursday 10th April 2025 ☀️ 19C ~ Wind SE @ 1mph ~ Today was a beautiful day with clear skies and temperatures in the high teens. It was probably the warmest day of the year locally, and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll around Fetternear Woodlands this morning.
There wasn't anything particularly exciting regarding bird species this time; our wintering Hawfinch seemed to have moved on, and there was no sign of any Dippers along the small burns, likely due to nesting. However, I did manage a couple of Redwing, and I was treated to plenty of birdsong. Song Thrush, Robin, Great Tit, Blackcap, Wren, Dunnock and Blackbird all in good voice, plus a drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker. Whenever I stroll around Fetternear, I'm always hopeful of hearing the call of a Nuthatch. While it remains an uncommon species in the northeast, there are now known locations around Deeside where they can be spotted regularly.

Today, one of the highlights was practicing with my new Canon R7 camera, paired with my Canon EF 100-400mm lens using the supplied adapter. I must say, I am extremely impressed!
